The overlap is real — technical health, authority and good content help both — but the success metrics differ (citations and mentions vs rankings and clicks), the surface differs (one answer vs ten blue links), and the levers differ (extractable answer passages, entity data and third-party corroboration matter disproportionately in GEO).
